A Fragile Tomorrow - Making of Tripping over Nothing

An amazing weekend at Awendaw Green - here's what we did...

A Fragile Tomorrow - #37-#40

So these guys www.afragiletomorrow.com were coming to Awendaw Green to record and hired us to do a doc of the beginning of the record. We decided to do some boneshows while we were down there. Amazing setting, and these kids blew me away. I hope this is the start of great things for them because they truly deserve it.

Liesl & Michael Downey #41-#49

You just never know what life will bring you. I met these guys at a concert at the Marrionette Theater in Columbia. They were moving to Chicago in less than a week, so we had to do a few boneshows for them to remember Columbia. Also, I wanted those big city folks in Chitown to know we're working down here... Anyway, Liesl and Michael...

Sharon Von Fange

Ok, so catching my breath here as my files transfer around. So, what happened to #22-#30? That's my new friend Sharon Von Fange. The first thing that struck me, as we met at the Clemson Extension Lake House in Northeast Columbia, was her cool spirit. She had a sort of glow around her. We set up, and walked around the lake to try to find a spot, and the rest was history. Such pure, honest songs. Check her out at www.myspace.com/sharonvonfange

Greylan James - #32 & 33

So, here's the thing about taking chances. I went to Rogersville, Tennesee to help my friend Jerome (www.jcdv.com) shoot a concert for the 4th of July. I was hoping when I got up there to do a boneshow with the headliner, Joe Diffe, (which never happened) But, I never expected this little guy to impress me so much. Greylan was the first performer of the day, and really held his own beyond alot of musician's I've seen. I took a chance and asked his dad about doing a boneshow while we were there, and he did. He wrote both of the songs you see here. I'm so lucky to get a chance to work with this little guy before he becomes a superstar! Check it out.

New Camera, new boneshow

Here's a boneshow we did with Matt for his song, This Heart of Mine. He wanted to do it in front of a notel Motel, and this was a very cool one. The interesting thing for me with this one is capturing this with a new camera. This was done with the Canon 5D mkII. I am very happy with how this camera performed and I am very excited about doing more... enjoy.

Boneshows #10-#18 Danielle Howle

Ok,
I had no concept when this thing started that I could acutally do what I set out to do. But here it is. I said from the beginning that the artist I really wanted was Danielle Howle. We had an amazing shoot. She's alot of fun, and so much energy, I mean she was going for 4.5 hrs. We had a great time, made some great music and had a few happy accidents in the process. Here are some of the clips... whew. So, where do I go from here? Who knows... cehck out all of the shows at

Boneshow #7

Hey All,
We have been very busy recruiting for the boneshow's premiere on Time Warner Cable. Here's another that Matt & I did in Asheville... We were up there promoting for a show we're playing tonight, and came across this cool lake area. Well, Matt had been wanting to do one with this old standard, and this looked like the perfect spot. It came out really cool. If you listen, you can hear the birds in the background...

Oh, the thinks you can think...
I am very excited to announce that our concept music videos the "boneshow" have been picked up by our local Time Warner Cable on demand channel. That is very good news! They will be shown on Channel 1234 starting in a few weeks with our premiere show Matt Corbin. So, anyone who gets a boneshow from this point, will have the added bonus of TV. Here are some samples from Matt, enjoy. Anyone wanting to do their own boneshow, for these first few months, I am going to offer 3 songs for $300. email me at info@caveatfilms.com if you're interested. These will all be done in HD, you will get 5 DVDs of your shows, an HD version for YouTube, and now inclusion in Carolina OnDemand on Time Warner Cable. AWESOME!!!

Tisa Lee

Well,
It's been a little while, but here I am. We've been very busy... Around the end of March(time flies) we started working with a great up and coming R & B singer named Tisa Lee. GEEK ALERT She had some 4k footage shot in Atlanta and turned to me to try to get it edited. Well, that weekend we went out to Rust to catch a show and here are some pics we got. I am working on the video now and should be able to post that soon, but in the meantime here are some pics from her show. This was one of our first outings with the amazing Nikon D700. This was done without a flash, so it's an amazing thing for dark clubs (like this one) enjoy...

The Boneshow

So, I have finally gotten a chance to shoot and put together my first of what I'm calling The Boneshow. The concept is to take musicians and put them in out of their normal situation. I want to strip the songs to the basic elements and show real musicians doing real music. Matt was very cool in going out for this first one, not knowing what we would get. It isn't about perfect audio or perfect video, but catching something. And I think we did.

My Hip Hop nickname

Just a short post. I've worked with a few local Hip Hop artists... namely, Slim O.G., Lil' Gino, Collardgreens, and I have a problem introducing myself as Bill. It sounds corny when you say it... Anyway, I need a Hip Hop nickname... anyone?
Suggestions so far,
White Spike (as in spike lee I guess)
Killer B
Bill-ionaire
Dolla Bill
Cheesy Mac (my wife's suggestion, wow...)

The Take Away Shows

I first found out about this concept by an online colleague of mine Julie Hill at Elysium productions in California. She posted a video by a band called Beirut for the song Nantes.

This thing blew my freaking mind. I said man, I am really excited about doing something like this in Columbia. I started digging into the concept, and there are nearly a hundred of these now with other bands. I am really excited about the idea of trying it here. Anyone who thinks htey can pull it off, just call me, let's do it. The site is http://www.takeawayshows.com/ check it out.

Welcome to my blog...

This will be my little spot to talk about things that interest me. Stay tuned for the sites, movies, and music that influence my work, and keep me going. Hopefully I'll be able to keep this up as well... thanks for watching... more to come...
